Linden’s Topp XX joined compatriots Winners Connection as the two leading
teams in the respective groups of the GTT Round Robin / Knockout Football Competition which continued on Wednesday night, at the No. 5 ground in West Coast Berbice.
Playing in the first game of the double header, Topp XX led by a brace from Oswald Benjamin, who netted in the 2nd and 25th minutes and single strikes from Travis Waterton (10th) and Keyon Hall (73rd), cruised to a comfortable 4-2 triumph over New Amsterdam United.
On target for NA United was Adrian Adams, who scored both of their goals in the 35th and 69th minutes.
Later, Victoria Kings squeezed past Rosignol United 2-1 with Orwin Bishop (46th) and the in-form Alden Lawrence (89th) goals leading them to victory.
Cornel Taylor’s 78th minute goal had levelled the proccedings and made things interesting until Lawrence’s goal decided the eventual outcome.
