Agricola A & B, Timehri A, Soesdyke B, Warriors A, Diamond B, Grove A & B advance
When the Stag sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) 7 A-Side knock-out
competition kicked off in fine style on Tuesday last at the Farm Community Centre ground, there were wins for Agricola A and B, Grove A and B, Kuru Kururu Warriors B, Soesdyke B and Diamond B teams.
Playing in sunny conditions at the senior level for the first time at the Farm ground in years, Agricola Red Triangle made light work of Herstelling B whipping the home team 3-0. Gordon Grant hit in a brace (4th, 19th) with the other coming from Anthony Rawlins in the 18th minute.
Herstelling had the chance to score at least once when they were awarded a penalty in the second half of the 20 minutes (2 halves of 10 mins) match but muffed the chance when Seon Alfred hit the right upright.
Timehri Panthers A team made light work of Kuru Kururu Warriors B with a comfortable 5-0 win having led 2-0 at the half way mark. Alvin Adams got proceedings underway in the 2nd minute and thereafter, it was a steady flow to the back of the nets for the Warriors.
Andy Higgins placed his name on the score sheet in the 9th minute, O. Grant in the 14th, Collis Messiah (16th) and Jarel Wallcott in the 17th sealed the deal and a place in the next round for the Panthers.
Soesdyke Falcons B were 1-0 winners over Diamond United A, compliments of a 6th minute strike off the boot of Chavez Sullivan.
Agricola B ensured that the home team, Herstelling did not secure a win on the day with their B team going down 2-0. Akeem Rawlins in the 2nd minute and Bilall Jabar in the 15th securing the victory for Agricola B.
The second widest margin of victory was secured by Grove B against Mocha A, 4-1. Akeem James opened the scoring for the day and the competition in the 3rd minute of the match, Floyd Matthews then converted twice, in the 10th and 13th minute before his brother, Nichaloi Matthews blasted the nets on the stroke of full time to seal the win. Mocha were able to salvage some pride with a goal of their own from Orin James in the 14th minute.
Grove A won via the walk over route from Mocha B, similarly, Diamond United B advanced at the expense of Timehri Panthers B and Kuru Kururu Warriors A over Timehri Panthers B.
Competition will continue on Sunday afternoon at the Grove Playfield.
