The Robb Street Headquarters of the Opposition, People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), posted these photos on its Facebook page yesterday. The party insisted that for those at Freedom House, yesterday was a normal working day.
The party emphasised it is adamant that today is Diwali and not yesterday as declared by the Government.
While the majority of Guyana celebrated Diwali yesterday, the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha has been sticking to its arguments that the festival is to be observed today.
The issue of the date has in some measure divided the Hindu Community, with several Pandits and religious organizations publicly expressing opposing views.
