Thousands flocked to the Kitty seawall in Georgetown and along the customary route last evening to witness yet another fascinating spectacle provided by the annual Diwali motorcade.
Just over two dozen floats, of various sizes and colourfully illuminated, made their way along the route via motor car, trucks and buses showcasing stunning depictions of Goddess of light Maha Lakshmi and other deities.
The overarching theme was the message of the stories of light prevailing over darkness and the resulting thrill was palpable for those gathered, especially children. Adding to the excitement were the many explosive sounds emanating from firecrackers, that many opined are appropriate to drive away evil forces.
