Road Safety Month is continuing to chalk up more tragedies across the land.
Last evening, a smashup between two cars left a number of Mahaica women badly injured and one dead. They were heading home from church. Reportedly dead is Irene Ramsay, 45, a resident of Perth. At least three others were rushed to the Mahaica hospital.
By the time the news spread the hospital compound was a sea of confusion. People were wailing because they could not enter the facility to see their relatives.
The accident reportedly occurred at Harmony Hall, Mahaica, about 19:45hrs, says Traffic Chief, Dion Moore. It involved motorcar PMM3093 and PRR9383. One of the cars reportedly fled the scene.
The victims had just left the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the area and were heading home.
