This weekend golfers in Guyana can look forward to a double-header in the wake of the
Guyana Open, with the SeaLand (Maersk Guyana SA’s) second Golf tournament tomorrow and another on Sunday.
Saturday’s SeaLand tee-off time is set for 12:00hrs.
The Danish company Maersk, considered the largest container shipping company in the world, made an impact on the club when in its inaugural sponsorship December 13 last year, it offered some 30 other prizes apart from the normal winner prizes.
Club President Mr. Oncar Ramroop is delighted that the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC), is having this global shipping conglomerate that operates in over 135 countries, has over 25,000 employees and over 600 vessels in the Shipping Line alone, to continue its support of the golf programme in Guyana.
Last year’s winners of the then Medal Play format were:- 1st – Sam Harry 67/12; 2nd – Patanjalee ‘Pur’ Persaud 68/26’; 3rd – Rabindranath ‘Pandit Ravi’ Persaud 68/25; 4th Kalyan Tiwari 68/20 and 5th Jetendra ‘Naro’ Danpat 71/9.
