Action in the Stag Elite League (SEL) will continue this evening at the GDF ground with two matches. Leaders Pele will be seeking to increase their hold at the top of the points table when they face off with Georgetown Football Club in the opening game from 18:00hrs. The feature match brings together GDF and Monedderlust.
Tomorrow, action will be back at the Tucville ground when the home team, Fruta Conquerors will square off with GFC which will be preceded by a clash between Slingerz and Buxton United.
Meanwhile, when play continued on Sunday evening last at the Tucville ground, Pele was held to a 0-0 draw by Fruta Conquerors. The result ensured Pele maintained their stronghold at the top of the points table after nine rounds of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) organised league.
In the opening game, Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United was in a no nonsense mood as they inflicted a 3-0 hammering of the Guyana Defence Force led by their most potent weapon, forward Delon Lanferman.
By the end of the first half, Lanferman with his first goal of the match had Alpha leading 1-0 as the Army up to that point, kept within equalizing range. In the final 45 minutes, the GDF still could not find their scoring shoes unlike Alpha.
Lanferman doubled the lead for his side with his second of the match in the 56th minute, a goal which drew him level with Pele’s Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson, the duo scoring seven (7) each so far.
Alpha’s Captain Daniel Wilson put the preverbal icing on the cake with his 76th minute goal as Alpha wrapped up the game, 3-0 to maintain second place behind Pele and above Slingerz.
