Two of the three Onderneeming, Sand Pit teenagers, who were impregnated while attending secondary school at the Johanna Cecilia High have given birth. One of the three teenagers gave birth almost a year ago while the two others delivered their babies this past week. The mother of one of the 15-year-olds who gave birth to a baby boy on Thursday, at the Suddie Public Hospital said that her teenage daughter delivered via a C- section.
The woman said that her daughter who displayed unusual behaviour patterns conceived during the time she, the mother, was attending to a medical condition in Georgetown.
She said during the period she was away, the teenager was left in the care of an older brother but whenever the older brother was away from home the teenager’s boyfriend would visit her.
The mother said that she is financially unstable and is not in a position to look after her new grandson. However close relatives would assume that responsibility.
The 50- year-old grandmother said her daughter and the boy’s parents have since engaged in discussions about the position he intends to play in both the child and teenager’s life. He has reportedly said that he does not intend to either cohabit or marry the teenager who was forced to leave school in fourth form. (Yannason Duncan)
