Regal Maters thump Floodlight, wins for Wellwoman, Angels
Regal Masters thumped Floodlight Masters by three wickets when the latest round of matches
in the Petema Enterprise/Motor Trend softball competition concluded on Sunday last. Batting first at Carifesta Sports Complex ground, Floodlights scored 195-9 in 20 overs. John Sumir struck 55, Anil Beharry made 34, W. Jones 24 and I. Mohamed 23.
Mahendra Arjune claimed 3-26, Falim Mohamed 3-31 and Satro Seeraj 2-32. Regal responded with 199-7 in 17.4 overs. Rudolph Baker smashed 84 not out while Mahase Chunilall hit 53 and Eon Abel 46. Richard Kellawan grabbed 4-20.
In other matches, Young Guns beat Farm and Floodlights Legends got the better of Parika Defenders. In the female category, Well Woman defeated Karibee Strikers by 26 runs. Wellwoman managed 147-4 off their allotted 10 overs, taking first strike.
Haseena Mohamed cracked an unbeaten 42, Latoya Smith got 29, Zola Telford 26 and Joan Vansertima 22. Shemaine Campbell took 2-7. Karibee Strikers were bowled out for 121 in reply. Campbell and Erva Giddings made 28 each while T. Parks assisted with 23; Smith had 2-7, Mohamed 2-17 and Amanda Bob Semple 2-21.
Trophy Stall Angels overcame Blue Divas by 7 wickets. Batting first, Blue Divas made 100-9 in 10 overs. Olena Roberts scored 33; Nicola Leacock snared 3-32 and Alicia Allen 2-18. Trophy Stall responded with 102-3 in 7.4 overs. June Ogle stroked 37 and Roxanne Demonik 24 not out.
And 4R Lioness trounced Karibee Strikers by 51 runs; 4R Lioness took first knock and posted 137-6 in 10 overs. Matanna Cambridge smashed 53 and Tamoka Wilson 44. Karibee Strikers were sent packing for 86 in nine overs. S. Vanderstoop made 18. Matanna Cambridge picked up 3-12 and Nafiza Mohamed 2-14.
The competition continues this Sunday at Carifesta Sports Complex at 09:30hrs on pitch one, United Brothers will tackle Wolf’s Warriors and at 12:30hrs Regal will battle Brickery Super Stars.
On pitch two at 09:30hrs, Fishermen Masters will match skills with Park Rangers, at 12:30hrs Wellwoman will play Blue Divas and at 13:30hrs 4 R Lioness will face Trophy Stall Angels. On pitch three at 09:30hrs, Regal will challenge Princess Hotel and at 12:30hrs Wolf’s Warriors will entertain Herstelling Raiders.
At GNIC SC, Regal Masters will engage Floodlight Legends and at 12:30hrs Savage Masters will play Parika Defenders.
