When rivalry in the Stag Elite League (SEL) continues this evening at the Tucville ground, the top two
teams so far, Alpha United and Pele FC in that order, will certainly be going all out to increase their advantage.
Separated by a mere 1 goal difference with both on 8 points after three matches (2 wins & 2 draws), Alpha and Pele will aim to keep their unbeaten record intact when they take on the Guyana Defense Force and Fruta Conquerors, respectively.
Pele will be basking in the fact that they drew matches against pre-game favourites Alpha and Slingerz FC and with their most potent player, Gregory ‘Jackie’ Chan Richardson who was named the inaugural, Courts ‘Player of the month’ in top form as the league’s leading goal scorer, Pele will fancy their chances of easing past Conquerors.
One of their main players, Omallo Williams who was red carded in the game against Buxton United is expected to be back in the line-up this evening to add strength in attack along with the skillful Deon Alfred and Travis ‘Zorro’ Grant in midfield.
Conquerors will be no pushovers and are not in the third place by accident, they have played well so far suffering their only loss to date against Alpha in their last game. They will fancy their chances of upsetting the run of Pele and will start with home advantage on their side.
Their last game at home was an exciting 2-2 draw against the GDF and they will hope that they can click against Pele in what will be an intriguing showdown. Leading the Fruta quest will be Eon Alleyne, Trevon Lythcott, Kwamie La Fleur, Delon Williams, Daniel Favourite and Jermaine Junor.
The Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United / GDF showdown will pit two sides that love to play the fast brand of football but it will simmer down to who will be more potent in the attacking third. Both coaches, Alpha’s Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover and Denzil Thompson no doubt would have been working out their respective tactical strategies that they will unleash against each other.
Alpha has conceded just two goals having scored six, this achievement only bettered by Slingerz with one against while the Army has conceded seven having a similar amount to Alpha. Given this trend, Alpha will fancy their chances of running riot in the Army’s final third and will hope to deepen their {GDF} woes having lost to GFC at home last week Friday.
Delon Lanferman who netted both goals for Alpha in their last game, a 2-0 win over Conquerors will seek to maintain that form with support from his captain Daniel Wilson, Kithson Baines, Anthony Benfield, William Europe, Steffon Ramsey, Philbert Moffatt, Clive Matthews Jr., and Jamal Codrington.
Taking on the charge for the GDF will be Eusi Phillips, Delwin and Delroy Fraser, Glenorvan Edmonds and Captain, Selwyn Isaacs. Kick off time is 18:00hrs
