Several youths from the West Bank Demerara area have commenced training in the Martial Art of Karate under the stewardship of third degree Black Belt Shotokan Instructor Eon McFarlane.
The youths are all drawn from the various police youth clubs on the West Side and the Karate training initiative of Divisional Commander Stephen Mansell.
Already 25 students from Stanleytown Police Youth Club have commenced training, which takes place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 17-19:00 hours.
The youths from La Grange, Wales and Vreed-en-Hoop will train at the La Grange Station compound every Saturday.
The training will culminate at year end when there will be an inter club karate championship at which the participants will showcase what they would have learnt over the next three months.
