The West Berbice Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WBCIC) has joined with other stakeholders in the West Berbice area to supporting young children in that area.
Recently the body presented a sizeable cheque to Ms. Jacqueline Isaacs of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Day Care Centre of Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.
The donation is intended to help the Centre offset its operational expenses and acquire literature materials for the students.
Speaking at the simple presentation ceremony which was held at the school was President of the Chamber, Mr. Imran Saccoor. Saccoor welcomed the undertaking by the Day Care Centre and sounded a call on other organizations to support the venture.
He said that some of the services offered by the centre will be charitable and overall, the project will benefit the wider community. Single parents can also now have an option of leaving their children in a safe environment while they go to work.
According to Saccoor, the Chamber was delighted to have been part of the initiative since it believes that any investment in youths represents an investment in the future.
Treasurer of the Chamber, Ewart Sangster, committed the body to providing more support in the future.
He also joined his colleague in calling on the business community to play their role in ensuring that the children are cared for and brought up in a decent environment.
He said that he believes parents need to play a vital role in the upbringing of the children. He challenged Isaacs to play her role as the leader of the Day Care in ensuring that the objectives are achieved.
So far 31 children between the ages of three months and three years have registered at the institution which is managed by Ms Isaacs who is a specialist in Children Care Delivery.
