City Magistrate Ann McLennan released a fisherman on $150,000 bail yesterday after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of break and enter and larceny in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Kevin Anthony McRae, 29, of Leopold Street, Georgetown, allegedly broke into Guyana Stores Limited between September 5 and 7 at Water Street, and carted off a quantity of items to the value of $1.6M.
McRae, who had no legal representation explained to the Magistrate that he did not steal the items. He also claimed that he does not know what the police are talking about.
The defendant told the court that during the time that the items were stolen he was at home because his “foot was sick”.
However, Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones informed that the items were not recovered. He added that the defendant has no antecedents.
This matter comes up again on October 6 for statements.
