Attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat secured pre-trial liberty for his client Keshon Rhobe, who was allegedly found with marijuana in his possession by the police.
When the matter was called on Monday in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, Rhobe of Lot 1720 Priority Place, South Ruimveldt, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on September 10, at Providence, East Bank Demerara, he had 30 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The attorney, during a brief submission, requested that his client be granted reasonable bail. He argued that special circumstances arise in the charge leveled against his client.
Fung-a-Fat explained that the drug was never found in Rhobe’s possession. The attorney argued that on the day in question, his client was a visitor at his grandmother’s house, when the police came and found the marijuana in another yard.
On the contrary, Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones told the court that the 26 year-old defendant was caught by the police throwing the illicit substance into a yard.
After listening to the submission by both sides, the Magistrate granted the father of three $200,000 bail and ordered that he return to court on September 28, in the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
