MYO beat Diplomats
Richard Dowlatna stroked a fine century, while Dwayne Peters grabbed 5-19 off 7.1 overs to guide Sophia to a comprehensive 191-run victory over St. Stanislaus when the Georgetown Cricket Association/New Building Society second division 40-over tournament continued yesterday.
Dowlatna hammered nine fours and four sixes in an unbeaten 107 and shared in an eight wicket stand of 146 with Akshay Rampersaud as Sophia rattled up 297-9 off their allotted overs, batting first at Everest.
Rampersaud thumped five fours in scoring 54, while Annan Persaud made 36 (1×4,3×6), Dwayne Peters 33 (6×4) and Garth Allen 25 (4×4). Travayne Sheoprashad claimed 4-50 from eight overs.
St. Stanislaus were skittled for 106 in 22 overs in reply. Prince Roberts cracked 28 (2×4) and Carlton Gasper 21 (4×4). Annan Persaud supported Peters with 3-20 off 7.1 overs.
At the Malteenoes ground, MYO reached 289-8 and bowled out Diplomats for 113 in 21 overs to win by 156 runs. Shafeek Ishmael (84), A. Kumar (82) and Richard Latiff (39) batted well for MYO as Eric Sukira (3-37) and Rickford Mohamed (2-47) did the damage with the ball while Almando Domon (34) and Ershad Ali (25) offered token resistance for Diplomats.
