The Smallbore section of the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) on Saturday last held a Precision Shoot at the Tactical Services Range, Eve Leary that was sponsored by Industrial Safety Supplies which attracted a total of 23 marksmen and women, the biggest turn out of competitors in many years.
With the aim of taking Smallbore shooting to the next level, the competitors sought to out-aim each other in what was deemed an exciting and very competitive shoot.
The Junior Category was won by Ms. Tracy Vieira who amassed a total of 185 points leaving behind Surujballi Persaud who occupied the second position with 178 points, while the third place went to Patrick Daly one point back on 177.
Ruling the roost in the Senior Category, which was closely contested, was Ray Beharry on account of one Bulls-eye, taking the top spot from Dr. Johan DaSilva after the two shooters finished on 179 points each.
Guyana NRA Smallbore Captain, Dale Hing had to settle for third with 177 points which underscored the closeness of Saturday’s competition.
Hing has disclosed that he was impressed with the level of enthusiasm shown for the event and the number of persons that turned out which is very encouraging. He noted that they would be back in competition mode on Sunday, this time at the Guyana Defence Force Range, Yarrowkabra. (F. Wilson)
