A century by Marcus Watkins coupled with a 12-wicket match haul by Leon Andrews handed Guyana Defense Force (GDF) a comprehensive 119-run victory over St. Stanislaus when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division two-day tournament continued last weekend.
Watkins stroked 101 while Andrews Slammed 82 as GDF posted 279-5 declared, batting first at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda. The pair added 126 for the second wicket with Watkins hitting twelve fours and two sixes and Andrews’s eight fours and three maximums.
St. Stanislaus were sent packing for 80 in reply. Irfan Ally made 26 and Shane Bacchus 22. Off-spinner Andrews proved almost unplayable, taking 7-12 from six overs while Miguel Cort picked up 2-15.
Asked to bat a second time St. Stanislaus were routed for 80 with Ally scoring 54; Andrews grabbed 5-25 to finish with match figures of 12-37. Nakithia Nester claimed 2-18.
