Rebels defeated Blenheim by 70 runs when the Phyllis Carter T20 competition commenced on Sunday on the Island of Leguan, Essequibo. Batting first, Rebels posted 217-9 off their allotted overs at Enterprise. Sultan Ali stroked 89 while Paranoid Roop scored 39. B. Chitbahal grabbed 4-33 and Mahendra Singh 2-40.
Blenheim were bowled out for 147 in 18 overs in reply. Satesh Latchana cracked 38 and Hemraj Sharma 33; Amit Roop claimed 3-30 and Parmanand Roop 2-23.
Maryville and Young Warriors had the settle for one point each after their fixture which was scheduled for 09:30 hrs at the said venue was rained out.
Young Warriors reached 63-4 off nine overs, batting first when the contest was halted. Teams have been divided into two groups with Satro, Rebels and Blenheim in group A and Young Warriors, Maryville and Falcons in group B.
The competition continues on Sunday at Enterprise with Falcons facing Maryville at 09:30 hrs and Blenheim playing Satro at 14:00hrs.
