Larry Josiah and Cyrleen Phillips won the male and female masters’ categories overall when the Guyana Masters’ Athletics Association (GMAA) held another of its 5km Road Race on Sunday at the National Park.
Josiah, who apart from winning overall, won the 35-39 years old category ahead of former national cyclist, Tyrone Hamilton. Phillips beat June Joseph in the 45-49 years old category.
In the Open Category, Jonathan Fagundes won ahead of Calvin Thomas and Fazaad Bacchus in the male competition while Alika Morgan defeated Nikita Wilson and Selman Rahaman in the female competition.
In other results, Joseph Jardine won the male 40-44 years category ahead of S. Gakul while Lindon Harrison won the male 45-49 years with Charles Losse second. Gary Fagundes won the male 50-54 years competition.
In seemingly the most competitive age category, Llewellyn Gardener was victorious in the 55-59 years old category ahead of Kenneth Prescott and Clifton Scotland. Debidyal Harold won the 60-64 age group with Franklin Archer claiming the 65-69 years old title.
Organiser of the event, George Barry, who is the Assistant Secretary and Treasurer of GMAA, yesterday thanked Tyrone Hamilton, Professional Key Shop and William ‘Panter’ Abrams for sponsoring the event.
