The Ministry of Education is advising parents, guardians of students attending public schools, and the pupils/students, that schools will reopen on Monday, August 31, 2015.
The Ministry expressed hope that pupils/students and teachers had an enjoyable holiday and are now prepared for the 2015-2016 academic year.
In a press statement, the Ministry reminded students of the importance of attending school and of the equal importance of being punctual.
As usual, the Ministry also acknowledged the sterling contributions of parents, and encouraged them to continue investing their time and other resources in their children’s schooling.
“Forming long-term relationships with class teachers, attending parent—teacher meetings and regular visits to their children’s schools, are some of the ways parents can participate in the process,” the statement noted.
“The Ministry expects nothing less than the commitment and professionalism of teachers across the country, and looks forward to working in partnership with them, and all other education stakeholders, to mould the minds of Guyana’s children,” the statement concluded.
Meanwhile, it was noted the 2013-2015 batch of teachers of the Cyril Potter College of Education are invited to visit the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Education, 21 Brickdam, Gerogetown, to sign their contracts, and are required to provide supporting documents such as a valid Passport, two passport size photographs, Identification Card, NIS Card and Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate (where applicable).
