Led by a fine half century from Hemraj Garbarran host Everest Masters defeated West Demerara Mavericks by 14 runs in a T20 fixture played on Sunday.
Garbarran struck four fours and two sixes in a top score of 62 as Everest posted 140-4 off their allotted overs, batting first after winning the toss. Shivnarine Chanderpaul slammed 40 not out with two fours and a similar number of sixes as Sham Persaud took 1-16 from four overs.
The visitors were restricted for 126-8 in 20 overs. Sudesh Persaud stroked 42 (4×4) and Naresh Bedasee 41 (4×4,3×6). Ronald Jaisingh grabbed 3-22 and Johnny Azeez 3-27.
Garbarran collected the prize for being the best batsman; Azeez took the best bowler accolade and Everest Masters received a trophy, all compliments of Trophy Stall Bourda Market, while Carib Foods presented a quantity of caps to the team.
The Everest CC also donated a cricket kit to Harmony Cricket Club of Canal Number two.
