Former Ministerial Advisor, Clinton Collymore, has been written to over a state vehicle which was burnt on Elections night, May 11.
According to a letter sent to him in late June, Collymore did not report the vehicle damage to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, which is now known as the Ministry of Communities.
According to the letter sent to Collymore, the vehicle was in the Advisor’s care and possession.
“Further it was established that this destruction occurred while you were engaged in activities unrelated to your official duties at the time. The designated driver assigned to drive the vehicle was not the driver on the day of the fire,” the letter to Collymore stated.
The letter was signed by Permanent Secretary, Emile Mc Garrell.
The Ministry is contemplating seeking compensation from Collymore since the vehicle was completely destroyed.
“Please make every effort to inform the Government of Guyana as the issue of damages sustained to the vehicle has to be addressed,” the letter stated.
The vehicle PJJ 7384 was one of several burnt in Sophia by an angry mob which had gathered in front of a PPP/C command centre.
