Charges could soon be instituted against a senior male supervisor at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), following an alleged physical assault against a female Confidential Secretary.
Kaieteur News understands that the alleged incident occurred after the hospital’s administration had changed the locks to the Director of Nursing’s office after the Matron, Sister Colleen Hicks was given the axe months ago, but still continued to occupy the office.
According to reports, the aforementioned Secretary was given the instructions to lock the office doors on Wednesday afternoon when Hicks would have left.
Following the instruction of her superior, the Secretary claims that she proceeded to lock the office, and was confronted by a male supervisor.
It is alleged that in a very loud tone he demanded the keys to the office so that he could retrieve his “stuff”.
The Secretary alleges that she was motionless as she stood face to face with the irate Supervisor who then grabbed the keys from her hand.
A complaint was lodged with the administration and the matter is being investigated. However, after consulting with her lawyer, the woman has since made a report at the GPHC’s police outpost.
The Secretary told Kaieteur News that she is feeling victimized and is saddened by the whole episode, because at the beginning of what she described as ‘drama’, she was not even on duty. It was after she had returned from leave that she found out that Hicks, who she once worked under, was terminated.
“I am just hoping that this situation is resolved as soon as possible, I can’t work under these conditions,” the Secretary said. She explained that working under such stress is very unhealthy.
