Murder accused Clifton Gibson, who is accused of killing Rubis Accounts Executive Jason Cort, yesterday appeared before Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan slapped with another criminal charge.
The charge facing Gibson alleges that on June 29, at Lamaha and Parade Streets, while being in lawful custody waiting to be taken to the Golden Grove lock-ups, he escaped.
Gibson pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He was further remanded to prison and will return to court on August 14, for statements.
Police Sergeant, Neville Jeffers is presenting the prosecution’s case.
Gibson along with Linton Eastman, 23; and Stancey Rodney, 27; of Perry Street, Tucville, were remanded to prison by Magistrate Mc Lennan on June 29, for Cort’s murder.
Cort, a 27 year-old, accounts executive, was gunned down in his Jamoon Drive, Meadow Brook Gardens home by bandits on June 17, last. He had moments arrived home with his fiancée, Shauna Garraway. He was shot to the chest and died subsequently at the Balwant Singh Hospital.
It was reported that the bandits took Cort’s licenced firearm, cell phone, gold band, chain and ring and an X Box console.
According to reports, the couple, who have a two-year-old son, had just come from a Kingston location, and were preparing to head to another venue on the East Bank of Demerara when the attack occurred.
