Still refusing to cooperate with investigators, self-confessed hired killer Sean Hinds was yesterday released from custody on $100,000 station bail.
But he will have to face a further grilling today on his recent televised statements about the role that he and others played in a ‘death squad’ which he claimed took orders.
Kaieteur News was told that Hinds has been ordered to return to CID Headquarters, Eve Leary today.
Hinds, accompanied by Attorney-at-Law Nigel Hughes, turned himself in at CID Headquarters, Eve Leary on Monday; after being informed that he was wanted for questioning.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum had stated that the former bodyguard of fired acting Town Clerk Carol Sooba, was wanted in connection with a “serious offence.”
He was reportedly questioned about claims that he was spotted in a car near the home of Prime Minister and First Vice President Moses Nagamootoo on Tuesday, July 14.
He was reportedly also questioned about his alleged links to a ‘death squad,’ which reportedly operated with the knowledge of senior police ranks. Police said that he had refused to cooperate with them.
Breaking his silence on allegations that have swirled around him for years, Hinds recently revealed on television that he was a member of a ‘death-squad’ which was set up to target criminals who were behind a spate of killings following the February 23, 2002 Mash Day jailbreak.
He claimed that the ‘death squad’ worked with members of the Police Force and he was among members who uplifted arms from CID Headquarters, Eve Leary.
It was headed by the late Axel Williams who had close links to former Home Affairs Minister, Ronald Gajraj.
Hinds claimed that he decided to spill his secrets after attempts were made to implicate him in the killing of political activist Courtney Crum-Ewing. He also said that he has taken the precaution of “making two or three tapes” which would be distributed to the media in the event that he was killed.
