Ryan Bobb-Semple, who allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered nine year-old South Ruimveldt resident, Shaquan Gittens, made another court appearance earlier this week and was further remanded to prison.
The court is still awaiting a psychiatric report on the accused. The report was ordered by Former Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry over three months ago after his Attorney, Paul Fung-a-Fat, attested that his client was not competent to stand trial.
The outstanding report is stalling the commencement of a Preliminary Inquiry (PI).
However, at the court hearing, Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Neville Jeffers told the court that the accused has not yet been evaluated by Senior Government Psychiatrist, Dr. Bhairo Harry. Jeffers said that he would have to summons the psychiatrist to attend court.
On the other hand, Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan, who is now presiding over the matter, instructed the prosecutor to have an order prepared and sent to the doctor.
The next hearing is scheduled for August 4.
The partially decomposed and bloated body of Shaquan Gittens, who went missing on April 1, was found in a trench in the South Ruimveldt backlands several days later.
