Fifty-four year-old Godfrey Taylor, who has no fixed place of abode, appeared before Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan yesterday to answer a charge of damage to property.
Particulars of the charge stated that on July 16, at Croal Street, Georgetown, Taylor unlawfully and maliciously damaged one BLU Cell phone valued $10,000 – property of Akeem Peters.
During the brief court hearing, Magistrate McLennan asked the defendant what he had to say for himself. He explained to the court, “is he bounce into me and mek de phone fall down, I don’t work, my family does look after me and he (Peters) does work.
However, Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones explained that on the day in question, Peters was about to answer his phone when the defendant jammed him causing the phone to fall to the ground. As a result the phone broke and Peters reported the matter to the police.
Subsequently the defendant was arrested and charged.
Taylor was then placed on $2,000 bail.
