Twenty- two year old Orlando Brewster, who was accused of stealing a motor cycle from Mark Goring, was yesterday released on $200,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that in March, in Wisroc Housing Scheme, Linden, he stole one 150cc motorcycle valued at $287,000.
He was represented by Attorney at Law Mortimer Coddett who told the court that his client resides at Block 22 Linden, with his reputed wife and one-year-old child.
He added that Brewster is a mechanic who would travel to the interior to do repairs. Upon his return home he was told that he is wanted by the police concerning the said allegation.
He then proceeded to the police station where he was arrested for the offence.
He maintained that his client is unaware of the offence against him, he made an application for reasonable bail stating that the man has a family to maintain and a fixed place of abode.
Prosecutor Neville Jeffers however objected to bail because of the prevalence of the offence and the fact that the article was never recovered. He however asked for a short period for the statement in the matter.
Orlando Brewster will make his next appearance at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on July 27.
