Captain of the Guyana National Rifle Association (Guyana NRA) Fullbore section, Mahendra Persaud, has been holding his own at the 146th Imperial Meeting which is currently being held at Bisley Shooting Centre, Surrey, England and hosted by The National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom (NRA) which is the governing body of fullbore rifle and pistol shooting sports in the United Kingdom.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport from his base in England, Persaud who has been attending this event for many years now said that conditions are very challenging and Windy with winds up to 25 MPH, changing swiftly at times. He also noted that rain is forecasted for the next two days, yesterday and today.
This competition which runs from June 18 to July 18 has attracted a total of 1049 shooters. Competing in the Individuals (A-Class) Persaud was placed at 69th as at Sunday last, July 12.
In the Daily Telegraph 500 yard shoot on Saturday, Persaud recorded a score of 72.11v out of a field of 831 shooters.
The Daily Mail on Sunday last where a total of 825 persons were entered for the 500 yard shoot, Persaud returned a total of 72.4v.
Also on Sunday in the Alexandra which saw a total of 841 marksmen and women, Persaud shot 49.5v at 600 yards;
And in the Duke of Cambridge shoot which attracted 823 competitors, Persaud returned a score of 49.6v. So far he has a total of 242 .26v as at Sunday July 12.
