St. John’s College defeated Marian Academy 4-1 when action in the Digicel National Schools Football Championship continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Clearly the dominant team, St. John’s College took the lead in the 11th minute when Joel Yap found the back of nets from outside the area on assist from Colin Bacchus. However Marian Academy found the equalizer through Joshua Brazao in the 26th minute before Tyrese Forde restored St. John’s advantage in the 39th minute.
Forde collected a pass from Tafari Persaud and cleverly skipped pass two defenders before slotting home as his team enjoyed a 2-1 lead at half time. St. John’s continued to dominate after the interval and Levi Harry extended the advantage in the 53rd minute with assistance from Tyrone Archer.
The talented Forde once again displayed his skills in the 58th minute, breezing past three defenders to finish clinically giving his team a handsome win.
