The enforcement arm of the Guyana Revenue Authority continued its vigilance against smuggling, when it nabbed a vessel with millions of dollars worth of contraband frozen chicken.
The frozen chicken was seized yesterday.
Details of the bust are sketchy but Commissioner General of the GRA, Khurshid Sattaur, said that the activity is not unusual.
“It is normal enforcement activity. These things happen a lot but they are not publicized,” Sattaur told this newspaper.

Almost a year ago, Customs Officers came under fire from a gang of smugglers at Dundee, Mahaicony, when they intercepted three mini buses loaded with contraband chicken.
The GRA officers were forced to seek cover by hiding in nearby yards to avoid death or serious injury from bullets fired from an AK-47 assault rifle.
The 10-minute barrage resulted in slight injury to one of the officers.
