Balram Shane Variety Store of Public Road, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice is the latest sponsor of the Berbice Cricket Board Fundraiser…..”Caricom Championship 2015″.

At a simple ceremony held recently, the owner, Balram Shane presented the sponsorship sum to BCB representative, Alvin Alladin. Shane said that he is a lover of the game of cricket and will always make a contribution when it is necessary. He added that he is pleased with the work of the board and wish it well in the upcoming fund raiser.
Speaking on behalf of the board, Alvin Alladin, BCB representative, thanked the businessman for his generosity and promised him good mileage for his contribution. Alladin recognized the amount of contributions Balram Shane makes to sports in general and called on the public to support the business so that more can be given back to charity for the betterment of all Guyanese. He also mentioned that the board is very pleased with the annual contribution the business makes to Albion Cricket Club and Port Mourant Cricket Club through the Balram Shane Memorial game.
The BCB is working feverishly to make sure that three day first division cricket returns to Berbice and proceed from this event will go towards that initiative. The board is appealing to all cricket lovers in Guyana and in the diaspora to come on board with the BCB to further enhance the game in the ancient county. The Caricom Championship will be played at the historic Albion Sports Complex on
Sunday July 5, 2015 will see eight top first division teams in Berbice taking part in a ten over knockout competition with the final of 20 overs to be played under lights for a top prize of $80,000 and trophy. The runner up will receive $40,000 and trophy with the losing
finalists $15,000 each. Man of the match in every game will be rewarded.
The teams will don coloured clothing and white balls will be used. Action begins at 10am sharp with the top Berbice cricketers on show.
Many gate prizes will be up for grabs for the fans with a well stock bar and musical entertainment present, including games for the young and old. Entrance is $300 for adults, children under 12 free.
