Once again, Sentinel Security Inc is on board with the Berbice Cricket Board. This time is by providing substantial sponsorship for the Berbice Cricket Board fund raiser “Caricom Championship” 2015.
At a simple presentation ceremony held recently, Mrs Priyta Rampersaud, Manager of the Berbice Branch and sister of Executive Director Mrs Noreen Gaskin said that her company is always willing to help the Berbice Cricket Board in its effort to promote the noble game of cricket. The release stated that Sentinel Security Inc is impressed with the work of the board, hence their willingness to assist whenever the opportunity presents itself. They are also committed to the task of moulding young cricketers in our country and making them better and rounded individuals.
Speaking on behalf of the BCB, Trevor Ramdeholl thanked the security firm for their generous donation and promised that the company will enjoy good mileage for their money. He added that the tournament will be well run with transparency and accountability. Funds from the sponsorship will cover the cost of advertisement, pay for the music and a stipend for the gate attendants. The board is calling on companies and private individuals to support the security firm so that they can continue to make tangible contributions to the communities in which they operate. The board also called on other sponsors to come on board. Special thanks was expressed to Mrs Noreen Gaskin, Executive Director of the company and a good friend of Berbice Cricket.
The BCB is seeking help to make sure that three day first division cricket returns to Berbice. The board is appealing to all cricket lovers in Guyana and in the diaspora to come on board with the BCB to further enhance the game in the ancient county. Others sponsors on board so far are: Sandeep Ramdas of Ishmail Poultry Establishment (Pampey) and Safraz Photo Studio.
Proceeds from this event will be used mainly to organise a three day cricket competition. The event will be played at the historic Albion Sports Complex on Sunday July 5, 2015.
The Caricom Championship will see the top eight T20 first division teams in Berbice taking part in a ten over knockout competition with the final of 20 overs to be played under lights for a top prize of $80,000 and trophy. The runner up will receive $40,000 and trophy with the losing finalists $15,000 each. Man of the match in every game will be rewarded. Action begins at 10am sharp.
The teams involved are: Upper Corentyne/Skeldon, Port Mourant, Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Albion, Young Warriors/Edinburg/Rose Hall Center, Police/Bermine, Blairmont/West Berbice and Bush Lot/D’Edward. Top Berbice cricketers will be on show.
Many gate prizes will be up for grabs for the fans with a well stocked bar and musical entertainment present. Games for the young and old will be available. Entrance fee is $300 for adults, children under 12 free.
