…in observance of WBDD 2015
The National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS), in observance of World Blood Donor Day 2015 (WBDD), held an appreciation dinner for staff members at the New Thriving Restaurant on Sunday last.
The theme of this year’s campaign is “Thank you for saving my life”. It focuses on thanking blood donors who save lives every day through their blood donations and strongly encourages more people all over the world to donate blood voluntarily and regularly with the slogan “Give freely, give often. Blood donation matters.”
As the theme suggested the NBTS dedicated the day to its staff members who are also blood donors in an effort to show their appreciation for their endless support and care for their patients.
Special invitees at the dinner included Dr. Amsterdam, Managing Director of the NBTS; Dr Karen Cummings, Minister within the Ministry of Public Health; Dr. Shamdeo Persaud, Chief Medical Officer; and Dr. George Norton, Minister of Public Health.
To show their appreciation to their employees, certificates were also given to all the staff members in every Department as a token of their consistent hard work.
Blood donation is an on-going campaign to help say the lives of persons. This year’s campaign aims to highlight stories from people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood and people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so.
