The East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA) recently received a major boost in the aid of a bowling machine and balls from mining company Grana y Montero and Sedgman joint venture (GSJV).
The company, which is in Guyana designing and building the gold processing plant on Aurora Gold Mines, made the donation to executives of the EBDCA at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
President of the EBDCA, Anand Kalladeen, said the equipment and accessories will help tremendously towards the development of the game in the area. He thanked the company for their support. Project Manager Max Scott said they are happy to help with the development of the sport which is a part of their corporate responsibility.
First Vice-president of the EBDCA, Rohan Sarjoo, said the equipment will help the association to further tutor the youngsters on the basics of the game and feels it will assist them in realising their goals of representing Demerara, Guyana and the West Indies.
He urged the young aspiring cricketers to sign up with the club in their area, adding that the executives are willing to invest in their development. The equipment is worth one million Guyana dollars.
