– overwhelmed by access to NGSA results
A novel undertaking by the Ministry of Education to afford people the opportunity to access the results of the 2015 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) was met with such overwhelming reception that it caused the site to crash.
Chief Education Officer, Olato Sam, at a press conference yesterday morning at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), had announced that people would have been able to access the results from 17:00 hours (5pm) yesterday. But shortly after the stipulated time the site was not accessible.
This was probably owing to the fact that the site was not compatible with the anticipated increased traffic.
A total of 15,225 candidates were entered for the assessment.
And it is believed the site would have attracted hits far exceeding the number who participated in the assessment.
At around 18:00 hours Public Relations Officer, Ms Suelle Williams, acknowledged that the site was down and every effort was being made to restore its operation.
She speculated that the situation was as a result of too many people attempting to access the site at the same time.
“I don’t like people being unhappy, so we are trying our best to get it up and running as soon as possible,” Williams said.
