Eleven-year-old Solomon Cherai of the Success Elementary Primary School has been named the top performing candidate when the Ministry of Education announced the results of the 2015 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA). He secured 530 marks out of a possible 535. His colleague Shania Eastman placed second, one mark behind.
The results were announced this morning at a press conference held at the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) in Kingston, Georgetown. It was also aired live on the National Communications Network (NCN-Channel 11).
The official announcement of the results was made by Chief Education Officer, Olato Sam, in the presence of recently appointed Minister of Education, Dr Rupert Roopnaraine, and other senior education officials.
A total of 15,225 pupils wrote the NGSA in April. They had previously written the National Grade Two Assessment in 2011 and the National Grade Four Assessment in 2013. The NGSA results therefore give a report on the candidates’ overall performance at the three assessments.
The Ministry will be publishing the entire 2015 NGSA results on its website (www.education.gov.gy) from 17:00 hours (5pm) today.
