Police are investigating the alleged rape of a seven-year-old Onderneeming, Sand Pitt child by her neighbour. The child has been taken to the Suddie Public Hospital.
The suspected perpetrator, who is said to be the child’s neighbour, has eluded the police.
According to reports from the Onderneeming Sand Pit area, on Sunday the child was left alone in the care of her other two siblings. It was then that the neighbour, a frequent visitor to their home, visited.
The mother usually takes her children along with her whenever she goes selling. However on the day in question, she took a chance and left them home alone.
The report added that the neighbour sexually molested the seven-year-old victim after he succeeded in sending the two other children on an errand to a shop in the Community.
The seven-year-old later told her teacher what happened and the teacher alerted the child’s mother. The child was then taken to the Suddie Public Hospital. Her condition continues to be monitored by doctors at the institution.
Meanwhile police continue to hunt the suspect.
