engine boat on Monday night, has been detained at the Charity Police Outpost.
France has submitted statements to the police detailing what transpired on Monday night at Akawini.
Benn’s aunt, Donnette Joseph, said that her nephew and France were imbibing alcohol at Charity, on Monday, and she is still uncertain why her nephew went out Monday night with his friend to Akawini.
“He beg France to take him to Akawini.”
Joseph said it was her nephew who had begged France to accompany him to Akawini.
According to Joseph, her nephew apparently crashed into a tree which fell and pinned him down. His badly injured body was only pulled from beneath the broken tree on Tuesday before being transported to the Suddie Funeral Parlor for a Post Mortem examination, which is expected to be performed on Friday.
Over the years, residents of Pomeroon have suffered fatally in numerous boat mishaps. The Maritime Department has since cautioned residents about safety and using life jackets when traveling on water.
