Parmanand ‘Max’ Persaud produced a fascinating golf performance last Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club as he outstripped the competition, posting a personal best net of 61 off his 20 handicap in the El Dorado 4th Annual
golf tournament. The competition saw very keen and exciting play as more than 10 golfers of the day all brought in net scores of 72or less. This is a very encouraging and positive indication that the competitive play is becoming greater and that players are soon likely to be breaking and setting records.
‘Max’ delightedly expressed, “Considering the weather and ground conditions I had to stay focused. I tried my best not to play too hard to win, because in previous games that affected my play. So I played carefully and without tension, and that gave me a good game.”
While the top four best net scorers were 1stParmanand Persaud – 61/20; 2ndPatanjalee ‘Pur’ Persaud – 64/24; 3rdKishan Bacchus – 66/17 and 4thTroy Cadogan 66/24, other very good net scores were returned from Sam Harry 67/11; Haresh Tewari 67/18; S. Ramroop 67/19; David Mohamad 70/17; Kashim Khan 71/9; Fazil Haniff 71/12; Dr Philbert London 71/26; Mike Mangal 72/8; Mahendra Bhagwandin 72/23 and Rabindranath Persaud 72/24. Best Gross (78) was won by Sam Harry and Nearest to the Pin by William Walker.
El Dorado Brand Manager Larry Wills who was, as usual, on hand to congratulate the winners, expressed his appreciation for the support of the 35 golfers who braved the weather conditions and competed so keenly. He also expressed the willingness of DDL – who had been sponsoring golf tournaments for many years at the Lusignan Golf Club, – to continue supporting golfing in Guyana through its El Dorado brand.
