Two men who are accused of trying to break into a bar in Kitty, were yesterday released on $100,000
bail each.
Clive Lewis, 24, a construction worker, along with his alleged accomplice Romario Archer, a cell phone technician had a joint charge read to them. The charge stated that between May 16 and 17 at Public Road Kitty, they tried to break into the bar of Diana Bowen, with intent to commit a felony.
The defendants who both reside at ‘C’ field Sophia, pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to them at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The Prosecutor told the court that Archer works at the said bar, and on the day in question at around 23:00hrs, he left and Bowen secured her business.
Later that night Lewis was seen at the grill of the bar trying to gain entry. The security raised an alarm and he was seen trying to throw away a spanner, which was allegedly used to remove the grill.
The prosecutor had no objections to bail and the defendants were granted their pre trial liberty by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
They will return to court on June 30.
