Days after two Guyanese females were busted with cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, 22-year-old Surinamese national, Damario Cheslie, was arrested on Sunday, May 17, after 214 grams of cocaine were found secreted on her person.
About 14:10hrs.Sunday May 17, 2015, ranks of the Police Narcotics Branch on duty at Ogle Airport, approached the young woman who was scheduled to board a flight to Barbados and the drugs were found.
She was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), and is under police guard. It was suspected that she may have also ingested a quantity of cocaine concealed in capsules.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman has since excreted some 25 pellets and is still under observation. It is unclear how many capsules she had initially swallowed.
The woman will remain in hospital until she completes excretion of the illegal drug.
Investigations are ongoing as the young woman remains under police guard at the GPHC.
