DEAR EDITOR,
I was heartened to learn that at the end of May 11 elections that there would be some form of coalition cabinet in the next government. I am indeed happy.
I am glad that among such a cabinet will be Moses Veerasammy Nagamootoo. I recalled that when I was Editor-in-Chief of the Guyana Broadcasting Corporation and Moses Nagamootoo was the Minister of Information how good were the Cabinet briefings he held.
He naturally demanded professionalism. He demanded that the newscast must be credible, that truth must prevail, that the newscast especially when critical, must be balanced, believable and should be properly sourced. It was good attending and participating in those briefing sessions and the names of Rovin Deodat and the late Sharief Khan come readily to mind.
In Biblical days, Moses successfully led the children across the Red Sea, through the wilderness that led to the Promised Land. In these days of super highways, surely it is time for Moses Nagamootoo in a joint leadership to lead the Guyanese people to the successes that await.
