Rain prevented further play in the East Coast Cricket Committee 40-over game between Mahaica and host Unity/Lancaster Sports Club on Sunday last.
After the game was reduced to 20 overs, the visitors batted first and posted 143-9 in 20 overs. Rakesh Gangaram picked up three early wickets to reduce Mahaica to 20-3, but Darshanan Persaud and Roopnarine Ramsanijhu shared in a fourth wicket stand of 67 to prop up their team total.
Persaud struck three fours and four sixes in a top score of 53, while Ramsanijhu supported with 33 (4×4). Rakesh Gangaram, Mark Rhobe and Dellon Ross claimed two scalps each.
However a heavy shower thereafter prevented the home team reply. A number of other matches were also rained out.
