A 12-month prison sentence was yesterday imposed by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, on a vendor who was before the court for fraud.
Dhaniram Harilall, 32, of Lot 528 Block 8, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, pleaded guilty to a charge, which stated that between March 27 and April 28 at East Coast Demerara, with intent to defraud, he obtained the sum of $1M from Malik Rashid and falsely pretended that he was an employee of the Ministry of Housing and Water, and was in possession of a house lot at Non Pariel, which he was prepared to sell.
Police Corporal, Shawn Gonsalves did not provide the court with any facts about what transpired on the day in question.
