New champions will be crowned today when the final of the 7th edition of the Edward
‘Screw’ Richmond Memorial Foundation Football Tournament is contested at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground between Christianburg/Wismar and Wisburg.
While Christianburg/Wismar were robust winners by a 4-0 margin over Mackenzie High in their semi-final, Wisburg edged Linden Foundation by the lone goal of their encounter.
Christianburg/Wismar were led by the leading goal scorer of the tournament to date, Shane Lake (4 goals) who blasted a double in the 41st and 47th minute. Duquan Hercules in the 10th minute and Tarique Williams of Mackenzie High who netted an own goal in the 23rd minute were the other scorers for the winners. Scoring the lone goal for Wisburg was Compton Caesar in the 24th minute.
Meanwhile, President of the Foundation, Mr. Ernest Joseph, who witnessed the semi finals, also made a donation of first aid supplies to longstanding physiotherapist of the tournament, Ms Michelle Jackman for her sterling contributions over the years. Jackman thanked Mr. Joseph for the donation which she described as timely.
The third place playoff featuring the semi finals losers, Linden Foundation and Mackenzie High will kick things off today at 16:00hrs.
