Peter Lewis of Peter Lewis Construction Services has agreed to sponsor the Berbice Senior Team for the upcoming PPP/C fundraiser, May Day Cup 2015. This cricket extravaganza is organized by the “Friends of the
PPP/C” and will be played on Saturday May 2, 2015 at the famous Albion Cricket Ground with the first game starting at 10:30 am with New Amsterdam/Canje taking on Upper Corentyne/RHTY&SC. Lower Corentyne will tackle West Berbice from 12 noon. The grand final will be played from 3pm. These matches will be of fifteen overs aside with the winner taking home a trophy and $100,000, the runner up $50,000 and the two losing semi finalist $25,000 each. The man of the match in the final will also receive a trophy and $10,000.
The big T20 clash will be between arch rivals Berbice vs Demerara under lights from 6pm with the winner collecting a trophy and $200,000, man of the match in the final a trophy and $20,000 and the loser $100,000.
Several top national and international players will be on show. Several gate prizes for the fans will be up for grabs and games for the young and the old will be there. Banks beer will be there with lots of food to eat.
Proceeds from this event will be donated to the party to assist with the 2015 election campaign and beyond. The sponsorship will cover preparation, provide clothing and refreshments for the team.
At a simple presentation ceremony held, Peter Lewis said that he was pleased to be part of the tournament and encouraged the cricket fans in Berbice to come out in their numbers. He said that he loves the game and is happy with the quality of players coming out of Berbice. Receiving the sponsorship on behalf of the committee, Vijai Ramdhan thanked the sponsor for his faith in the party and his willingness to sponsor the mighty Berbice team. He assured the sponsor that the tournament will be of the highest standard.

Following the cricket, Crown Vibes International will provide the music for the after party lime. The organizers have indicated that to make it more affordable and to encourage persons to attend the games, the ticket price has been reduced to $500 all day with kid under 12 free.
