The annual Hilbert ‘Old Beef’ Humphrey Memorial Inter school U15 football competition 2015 gets underway today in Berbice with two matches.
Six schools are slated to participate in the competition, namely; Vryman’s Erven Secondary School (VESS), Tutorial Academy Secondary (TASS), Canje Secondary School, Berbice High School (BHS), Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) and New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary (NAMS).
The schools in group A are BHS, TASS and VESS, while Group B comprise of BEI, NAMS and CSS. All the games are slated to be played at the All Saints Ground.
In today’s games BHS is expected to take on VESS in a group ‘A’ encounter in game one, while game two, which is a group B encounter, will see BEI playing against CSS.
Wednesday games will see the winner of game one playing TASS, while the winner of game two will meet NAMS.
The final is set for Thursday.
The winner and runner up teams will be presented with trophies and medals. Outstanding individual players including the most valuable player, top goal scorer and best goalkeeper will be presented with awards.
The tournament is organized by the Hearts of Oak Master football Club and coordinated by former national player Neil “Grizzly” Humphrey. (Samuel Whyte)
