Edward Screw Richmond Mem. Inter Sec. F’ball
Linden Foundation held defending champs Christianburg/Wismar to a draw on Tuesday when play in the 7th annual ‘Screw’ Richmond tournament continued at the Wisburg School ground.
The boys from Amelia’s Ward stuck to their game plan and put together an excellent defensive performance to see off the challenge of the defending champs. In the second encounter, Mackenzie High managed to pull off a win against a ten-man but very game Marcia Craig’s Educational Institute.
Scoring the winning goal for Mackenzie High was Shaquille Campbell in the 52nd minute.
In results from day two, Linden Foundation and New Silvercity were 1-0 winners over Harmony and Marcia Craig Educational Institute respectively.
Mark Benjamin netted in the 63rd minute for Linden Foundation, while an own goal made the difference for New Silver City, coming off the boot of Jalek Kitt in the 51st minute. New Silver City’s Brian Johnson was red carded in the 67th minute.
Matches are set to continue today at the same venue with two more matches from 14:45hrs.
Linden Technical Institute and Harmony will face off in the opening game with the main attraction between last year’s runner-up New Silvercity and Wisburg.
