Wales and Independence A SC recorded victories when the West Demerara Cricket Association 40-over tournament continued recently.
Wales beat Uitvlugt by four wickets. Uitvlugt Invaders made 108 all out in 25.1 overs, taking first knock. L. Leander made 24; C. Persaud took 4-20 and Ramesh Thakur 3-19. Wales replied with 109-6 in 15.5 overs. C. Persaud got 39 and D. Singh 23. V. Dhaniram claimed 3-23. C. Persaud was given the man of the match award.
At Joe Vieira Park, All Youths went down to Independence A SC by six wickets. Batting first, All Youths scored 210 for 9 in 40 overs with R. Ramroop scoring 56 and G. Carraton 29. E. Samuel captured 2-18 and M. Dhanpaul 2-23.
Independence A responded with 214 for 4 in 24.5 overs. Man of the match K. Shivgobin stroked an unbeaten 118 (5×6,13×4), S. Esau chipped in with 33 and J. Paton made 24 not out.
At Number two, Lenora defeated the host and booked a spot in the quarterfinals. Teams are asked to make contact with competition chairman Omar on 610 4900 for information on the up coming T/20 knockout competition.
